Ptah:
Creator-god of: Memphis, who was usually portrayed as a mummy, with his hands protruding from the wrappings, holding a staff that combines the Djed pillar, Ankh sign and Was scepter. His head was shaven and covered by a tight-fitting skullcap leaving his ears exposed. He was the patron of craftsmen and artisans. The god was though to have created skills in design and sculpture. The highlight priest of ptah held the title, which conveyed notion of a deity who was the smith and sculptor of mankind and the arts. |
